Goals For 2021
The exact same as 2020. I think we all agree to write off 2020.
Goal #1: 50% Savings
Yet again, the actual goal is for this 12 month period to sit comfortably above 50%. Ideally, I'd like to bring the 3year rate up as well, but we'll see how that actually goes.
April Rate: 53%
2021 Average: 48%
Three-Year Average: 34%
Goal #2 Reduce Average Spending by 10%
April Spend: $3,992.88
2021 Average Spend: $4,235.69
2021 Average Spend: $4,235.69
Goal Spend: $4,400 (or less)
Spending
Here's what I spent in April, which includes the save-to-spend amounts.
Category | Spent | Budgeted | 12 Month Average |
---|---|---|---|
Home | $823.53 | $954.17 | $973.39 (down $1.27) |
Under Budget. 2 rents and the gas bill. | |||
Investment Property 1 | $1,050 | $1,100 | $1,222.07 (down $3.77) |
On Budget. The mortgage, and $440 set aside for later. | |||
Home turned IP2 | $950 | $950 | $753.23 (up $7.55) |
On Budget. The mortgage, and $50 set aside for later repairs. | |||
Personal Bills | $137.10 | $137.50 | $130.35 (up $0.82) |
Under Budget. New health insurance premiums :( time to shop around methinks. | |||
Groceries | $245.13 | $200 | $218.40 (up $0.91) |
Over Budget. Nothing interesting to say. Monkey see food, monkey eat food. | |||
Pets | $387.96 | $300 | $334.72 (up $15.19) |
Over Budget. Puppy was having some confidence issues, so I enrolled her in daycare, with the intent to enter their 'daycare academy' once she was used to the space. I'm not sure if it coincided with a developmental milestone, or if she just really appreciated the energy burn, but she's been a very good girl since. | |||
Roller Derby | $62.67 | $166.67 | $137.12 (down $4.78) |
Under Budget. I paid dues, and that's it. | |||
Travelling | $50 | $105 | $54.17 (up $4.17) |
Under Budget. Just putting aside money for the future | |||
Comfort Food | $9.50 | $50 | $22.81 (down $9.62) |
Under Budget. Back in the office one day a week, I've been doing networking coffee dates. | |||
Car | $199.00 | $200 | $753.18 (up $16.59) |
Over Budget. A tank of petrol and starting to save for the inevitable repairs. I have $300 saved. | |||
Donations | $44 | $9.27 (up $3.67) | |
A friend of mine is doing the Refugee Ration Challenge. She'll eat the same as a refugee for a week, and all money raised goes to support refugees around the world. | |||
Other | $33.99 | $183.33 | $213.97 (down $1.50) |
Under Budget. I'm on iron pills now to see if it helps my mood disorder. It's been great so far! The other $10 is saving for future shopping. | |||
Total | $3,992.88 | $4,119.17 | $4,822.67 (up $35.49) |
Total ex. Donations | $3,948.88 | $4,813.41 (up $31.83) | |
Under Budget. Puppy continues to be more expensive than expected. Mostly this boils down having a sport dog versus a pet dog. This month I paid $150 for 4 daycare sessions, and $100 for a travel crate. All things I wouldn't need for a pet but are essential for a balanced sport dog. |
