April 2021 Update

I forgot about this post!

Goals For 2021

The exact same as 2020. I think we all agree to write off 2020.

Goal #1: 50% Savings

Yet again, the actual goal is for this 12 month period to sit comfortably above 50%. Ideally, I'd like to bring the 3year rate up as well, but we'll see how that actually goes.

April Rate: 53%
2021 Average: 48%
Three-Year Average: 34

Goal #2 Reduce Average Spending by 10%

The goal is to reduce my average spend by 10% from January 2019 - bringing it down below $4,400 (a nice rounded number).

April Spend: $3,992.88
2021 Average Spend: $4,235.69
Goal Spend: $4,400 (or less)

Spending

Here's what I spent in April, which includes the save-to-spend amounts.

Pets$387.96
$300$334.72 (up $15.19)
Over BudgetPuppy was having some confidence issues, so I enrolled her in daycare, with the intent to enter their 'daycare academy' once she was used to the space. I'm not sure if it coincided with a developmental milestone, or if she just really appreciated the energy burn, but she's been a very good girl since.
Roller Derby$62.67
$166.67$137.12 (down $4.78)
Under Budget. I paid dues, and that's it.

A friend of mine is doing the Refugee Ration Challenge. She'll eat the same as a refugee for a week, and all money raised goes to support refugees around the world.
Other$33.99$183.33
$213.97 (down $1.50)
Under Budget. I'm on iron pills now to see if it helps my mood disorder. It's been great so far! The other $10 is saving for future shopping.
Total$3,992.88$4,119.17$4,822.67 (up $35.49)
Total ex. Donations$3,948.88
$4,813.41 (up $31.83)
Under Budget. Puppy continues to be more expensive than expected. Mostly this boils down having a sport dog versus a pet dog. This month I paid $150 for 4 daycare sessions, and $100 for a travel crate. All things I wouldn't need for a pet but are essential for a balanced sport dog.

A quick 2023 check-in

I have been away for a tumultuous 12 months. I made a lot of changes. I changed career, I removed my birth control, and I very nearly ended...
